![]() Sure, you can always pick up the phone and call someone, but that relies on them being free at the exact same time. The more years go by, the more responsibilities and the more time spent working - means you have less time to catch up with anyone who doesn’t live in your household. They probably are not even aware of the app doing this and need to know what is happening without their consent.Life is busy. Please share this to anyone and everyone who has Marco Polo. To 2016 have reported similar issue and app updates have not resolved it. Upon further investigation, I found that multiple users dating back Research and the person who advised me to get the app claims to have never sent meĪ request to join app. I never sent suchĪ message to any of my contacts. Wanting to know why they wanted me to download this app. "After downloading the app, received messages from several of my contacts This is the message that I sent to Play Store when I flagged the app. ![]() DELETE IT AND REPORT IT!!! Do not let this app continue to exist on the market because they cheated their way to growing popular and used their users as pawns to spread the word of their app by sending requests to 15 to 30 of their contents and these messages don't even appear on your side of the device. They did it without my consent whatsoever. I didn't give them permission to use my contacts or send SMS. At this point that can send messages with your consent.but they made a tiny mistake. The app asks for permissions to your contacts and SMS on your phone. The article linked here /9/some… tells me that someone on the inside of Marco Polo is doing a shady business practice. The growth of the app from 2016 to 2018 was enough for investors to want a share in the profits. The app was not even in the popular groups and was a nobody that suddenly got really popular. This led to more research and I found out that Marco Polo has had reports of this nature dating back to 2016. I counted over 100 dating back from just the past 10 days of reviews reporting this issue (usually marked as one star reviews) and the app asking for feedback to resolve the issue. ![]() This led me to do further research and I skimmed the reviews on the Play Store for Google. I had found out from my friend that they were also invited to download the app from one of their contacts. I went into my app settings, force stopped the app, cleared my data, and my cache, and deleted the app from my device. I knew at this point that there was something up. I quickly explained that I did not send a request or invite for them to join the app. Within about 30 minutes of this message, I was bombarded with about 15 messages from my contacts asking me to explain why I needed them to download this app which was Marco Polo. I asked them to explain and they said that they didn't send me an invite to join the app. The friend texts back and says to ignore the message I was seeing. (I don't allow anything to go on without my consent.) I text the friend back and ask them to send me the video they want me to see. I download the app, set my preferences, and then set my permissions. It took me to an invite template that then redirected me to the app store page. I clicked the link after verifying it wasn't malware. Today I randomly got a text message from my friend addressing me by name to go to a link provided and download the app there because they have a video message to give me. We need to get the word out so this distasteful business practice will not stand. And lastly report the app to your app store. If you have a mobile app called Marco Polo on your phone.you need to do the following now. I'm not one to usually get into a fuss about apps or anything, but I cannot stand companies making money and increasing business with a deceptive practice.
